1 CORINTHIANS 2: 6-12

6. Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9. But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 10. these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.

GALATIANS 5:1-6

1. For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. 2. Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. 3. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. 4. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. 5. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. 6. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

GALATIANS 3: 1-9

1. O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. 2. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3. Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4. Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5. Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— 6. just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? 7. Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. 8. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” 9. So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

JOB 28:20-28

20. “From where, then, does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding? 21. It is hidden from the eyes of all living and concealed from the birds of the air. 22. Abaddon and Death say, ‘We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.’ 23. “God understands the way to it, and he knows its place. 24. For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. 25. When he gave to the wind its weight and apportioned the waters by measure, 26. when he made a decree for the rain and a way for the lightning of the thunder, 27. then he saw it and declared it; he established it, and searched it out. 28. And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

MARK 15: 33-47

And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.” And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.” And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate was surprised to hear that he should have already died. And summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead. And when he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the corpse to Joseph. And Joseph bought a linen shroud, and taking him down, wrapped him in the linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.

MARK 14: 53-65

53. And they led Jesus to the high priest. And all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes came together. 54. And Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with the guards and warming himself at the fire. 55. Now the chief priests and the whole Council were seeking testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none. 56. For many bore false witness against him, but their testimony did not agree. 57. And some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying, 58. “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’ ” 59. Yet even about this their testimony did not agree. 60. And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?” 61. But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” 62. And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” 63. And the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need? 64. You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death. 65. And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards received him with blows.

MARK 12:35-40

35. And as Jesus taught in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? 36. David himself, in the Holy Spirit, declared, “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.’ 37. David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son?” And the great throng heard him gladly. 38. And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces 39. and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, 40. who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

ROMANS 8:38-39

38. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39. nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

ACTS 26:12-18

12. “In this connection I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. 13. At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, that shone around me and those who journeyed with me. 14. And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ 15. And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. 16. But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, 17. delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom I am sending you 18. to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
